Founded in 1987 as an umbrella organization, Ontario Society of Senior Citizens' Organizations/La Société des Organisations des Citoyens Aînés de l’Ontario (OSSCO) is a network of organizations. OSSCO's signature events include an annual Seniors' Conference and Information Exhibition offered free of charge to people 50+ as well as conferences throughout the year to raise awareness on issues of importance to aging Ontarians i.e. elder abuse and its preventation or dealing with loneliness and social isolation.OSSCO publishes reports on its website on a variety of topics including Ageism, Elder Abuse and Social Isolation as well as producing educational videos on its YouTube channel. A monthly newsletter and member information bulletins are produced. OSSCO has developed more than 20 workshop themes for the seniors' community, and programs on computer literacy, to help 50+ people find employment, how to establish and participate in Social and Employment Networks, and more.Through consultations with members, supporters and individual seniors, OSSCO makes sure the voice of older people is heard by stakeholders.
