Native plants serve a critical role in habitat value, biodiversity, resource conservaation, and health and beauty in urban landscapes. The High Desert Horticultural Center (HDHC) was created to increase the understanding and appreciation of native plants in urban environments through developing opportunites for the public and industry professionals to learn about native plants and the benefits of utilizing them in developed and managed environments. We focus on four key issues: biodiversity, pollinator habitat, resource conservation and the human environment and address these issues through education, research, workforce development, nursery production and botanical and demonstration gardens. The courses we offer through Eventbrite are designed to provide the basic concepts, theory, and practice of using native plants in landscapes, gardens, and restoration projects.
