In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson and the US Congress enacted into law the Economic Opportunity Act (EOA), and the War on Poverty was declared.Shortly thereafter, Springfield Partners for Community Action was incorporated under the laws of the State of Massachusetts and designated as the official anti-poverty agency for the City of Springfield, becoming the first Community Action Agency in Western Massachusetts, with the mission to address the needs of low-income people by providing them with the necessary tools to build equity and achieve economic stability.We are the frontline resource for people living in poverty. We take pride in our success helping people to become productive, financially stable citizens and ultimately enhancing the quality of life of everyone in the community.Springfield Partners helps families break the cycle of poverty. Our services help low-income residents build assets, decrease energy costs, manage money, avoid eviction, file taxes, and get college degrees. We also have programs to assist veterans with housing and homelessness, filing claims, accessing benefits, prevention services, and more.
