Mukta is a Hindi word meaning released, freed, liberated. MUKTA fashion brand aims to do this through the technique of un-doing fabric, creating one off jumpers, bomber jackets and t-shirts. Bringing new life to un-wanted fabric, each one of our garments are lovingly put together and fabric individually chosen to create a completely unique item. By saving fabric from the land fill MUKTA supports a slow fashion movement and works in close collaboration with community projects to bring about a greener way of clothing consumption, making and designing.As part of the company, founder, Abigail Schaefer collaborates with a number of studio spaces , delivering workshops people of all ages. encouraging people, and in particular, the next generation to think about the way in which they consume, design, and create fashion. Supporting the participants to explore their creativity in a free, fun and relaxed environment, sharing 20 years of sewing and design know how.
