ARIA ARAI, founder of the Organization: This Monterey, California native is Finland's first Black American plus sized model, television personality and fashion icon. She introduced body acceptance by starting the “Miss XL”beauty pageant especially for larger women. This groundbreaking achievement revolutionised clothing, and many other industries who now accept a broader definition of beauty. The”Ourvision Song Contest” was her answer to Eurovision when Lordi brought the Eurovision trophy to Finland. Through her NGO, EarthAngels of Finland ry, she produces the “Say it Loud” Black American History Month in Finland. Momma Aria works diligently to combat racism and intolerance in all forms. Her latest initiative, “OLD FOLKS MATTER," was formed to bring attention to the needs of older immigrants and native Finnish citizens who are left without support when it comes to easily acquiring information about the availability of benefits in Finland. At 70 years young, “Momma Aria” as she is affectionately addressed, believes in the motto, “EXPERIENCE IS A TERRIBLE GIFT TO WASTE.”
