Event Description: "Join us at Peoples Reach Out for an evening of community, support, and impact. Our mission is to empower emancipated foster care survivors and their 1st generational offspring through education and essential resources, such as classes, books, daycare, food, transportation, housing, and medical/dental needs.Research shows that approximately 280,000 children are in foster care each year, with around 25,000 leaving the system without any support or family. These emancipated foster care survivors are suddenly considered adults, and state assistance ends overnight. Many face the harsh reality of returning to abusive environments or homelessness. Our goal is to bring the number of suicides among this group down to zero by providing a safety net of resources and a place to turn to when life becomes overwhelming. Too often, they resort to the streets, substance abuse, or crime just to survive. We aim to raise funds to restore their hope and provide them with a future. In fact, 70% of children who have been in the foster care system experience mental health challenges, which hinder their potential. Additionally, only 20% of former foster youth apply to college, and even fewer complete their degrees, with only about 3% finishing a four-year degree or trade school education. Can you imagine starting life by surviving abuse, only to face ongoing instability and lack of support? Graduating with no home, no future education, no bed, and realizing the struggles never end. We are here to change that, and you are going to help me do it because we all can see the only way to give them a better future... is to actually do it!Recognizing the profound and lasting effects of foster care, we have extended our reach to include their offspring. Even if the parents didn't make it, we believe in giving their children a chance for a brighter future. Your participation can make a world of difference. Enjoy a memorable night with guest speakers, The Dinner Detective meal, and exciting auction items. Help us create brighter futures for those who need it most. Every contribution counts!"
