As Bill McKibben, co-founder of350.orgIf there is any place that can lay claim to having started this revolution 20 years ago it was Vermont and SolarFest.”For over thirty years we have energized tens of thousands of people who come to learn how they can make positive changes in their daily lives, reduce their dependence on fossil fuels, live more sustainably, learn a new skill, and become more involved in their community to help others.SolarFest started with an innovative idea to hold a family-friendly festival showcasing the power and possibilities of renewable energy that combines world-class entertainment with not-to-be-missed workshops. But the Solarfest Center is so much more than the festival. Our 501(c)3 non-profit mission statement is quite simple, and vital: Solarfest Center helps people better adapt to our rapidly changing climate by sharing the latest ideas from the arts and sciences to build a strong and resilient society.As the Northeast’s premier energy and music festival we offer: world-class acts on the solar powered stage, scores of presentations and hands-on workshops by some of the region’s most knowledgeable renewable energy and sustainability experts, superb family entertainment and children’s activities, and a great mix of food, craft, renewable energy and sustainable living vendors, plus: plenty of space throughout the weekend for serendipitous encounters, conversation, dancing, hiking, camping, relaxation, and an overall celebration of our planet’s beauty and bounty.
