Stemilliatas, a name derived from 'Semillas,' meaning seeds in Spanish, and 'STEM,' reflects our foundational belief that nurturing seeds of knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can flourish with the rich contributions of language, culture, and community. As career educators with over two decades in science and bilingual education in public schools, we are first-generation immigrants from Mexico committed to celebrating the diverse stories and knowledge every child brings. We believe that learning experiences deeply rooted in community, culture, and language are essential for fostering confidence, belonging, persistence, and agency. Our mission is to plant and nurture these seeds, ensuring every student has access to transformative STEM learning opportunities that honor their unique talents and backgrounds.
