He won over 150 golf tournaments during the course of his golf career AND paved the way for African Americans to play golf. During Tiger Woods' first Masters win in 1997, he credited Ted Rhodes as one of the pioneers that paved the way for him to play golf. There is a golf course that bears his name in Nashville, TN.ABOUT TED RHODES FOUNDATIONThe Ted Rhodes Foundation is a non-profit (501c3) organization that was founded in 1993 by Peggy Rhodes-White. The mission is to preserve and honor the legacy of golfing pioneer Theodore “Ted” Rhodes.Ted Rhodes’ vision was to make the game of golf open to all races. The Foundation is honoring his vision and moving the game of golf forward by introducing the great game of golf to youth in the urban areas and creating pipelines of minority golfers and minorities working in the golf industry. The Foundation hosts educational events, golf clinics, and golf tournaments for youth (Ages 5-18) and adults.The Foundation provides financial support annually to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) golf programs and golf team members to help further this mission.
