We help to provide much-needed funds to support The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology – together known as Queen Square.The National Brain Appeal (former name The National Hospital Development Foundation) was established in 1984.We raise funds to advance treatment and research at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Institute of Neurology – together known as ‘Queen Square’. Since the charity was set up, and with the help of our incredible supporters, we have funded over £45million of ground-breaking projects in Queen Square.The National Hospital was established in 1860 and is regarded as the ‘cradle of British neurology’. It is one of the world’s leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with neurological and neuromuscular conditions.The UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology has a world-class reputation for neuroscience. Its mission is to translate neuroscience discovery research into treatments for patients with neurological disease.In the UK alone, 1 in 6 of us has a neurological condition. That’s 14.7 million mums, dads, sons, daughters, friends and colleagues who are affected. It’s the challenge of our times.We want to improve the outcome and quality of life for everyone affected by a neurological condition. These include brain tumours, stroke, epilepsy, dementias, MS and Parkinson’s disease to name by a few. We achieve our vision by funding state of the art equipment, major building programmes and life-saving research – over and above what the NHS can provide.
