My name is Makayla Murphy, and I am the founder of The Pet Project, a student-led club at Vincent Massey Secondary School dedicated to supporting animal welfare in our community. As someone passionate about animals and aspiring to become a veterinarian, I have always wanted to make a meaningful impact. While I haven’t been old enough to volunteer at the Humane Society, I have been helping at a veterinary hospital. However, I’ve been searching for a way to directly contribute to animal welfare, and I truly believe this initiative is the perfect opportunity.I created The Pet Project with a vision. The mission is to raise funds, create handmade blankets and to provide direct support for animals in shelters. Animals typically stay at the Windsor Humane Society for 6 weeks to 6 months and because of this, we’re excited to host a Charity Golf Event to support them. They’re a vital organization that provides shelter, medical care, and adoption services for animals in need. The Windsor Humane Society gets overlooked when comes to charity and we want to change that.
