My name is Onno Warns and I would love to take you on a historical tour through Amsterdam. We will follow the traces of history that can still be found in this city today. I offer walks covering the history of Jewish Amsterdam, the 750th anniversary of the city, 'specials' about the Plantage and the Vondelpark, or a custom-made tour.Historian and AmsterdammerIn 2022, I — an Amsterdam native with Jewish roots who studied history — was asked to develop a tour of the Jewish Quarter for American students on exchange here. I immediately loved it: sharing stories about my own city and the people who lived here, searching for the traces of the past together with interested parties.For my walks, I draw on my knowledge as a historian (Master's in Medieval History, UvA 2006) and continually conduct research to deepen my stories and incorporate new details.FreelancerSince 2012, I have been working as a freelance programme curator and I am hired to organize talkshows. I specialize in shaping in-depth discussions, lectures, and presentations for professionals and a generally interested audience. Together with my clients, I design the program for an event, brief the speakers and the moderator, and "direct" the conversation from behind the scenes. Sometimes, I sit at the talk show table myself to lead the discussion.My passion lies with projects of social relevance, and I mainly work for clients from the NGO sector, media, arts & culture, and government. My professional guiding principle is justice.In addition to my work as a city guide and program creator, I teach Dutch to foreigners.
