Hey babes – we’re Golden Gems, the lifestyle retail brand behind Hidden Gem. We are a small business founded by sisters, Amanda and Susan in 2016. Originally, GG was headquartered out of Amanda's living room and our product list had only 8 items. They were just two girls with a dream of working together, making time for their small biz in between working full-time jobs. And it was a lot of fucking work. But those long days led them to our first location on Cherokee. They fell in love with the community there and the idea of what Golden Gems could become, so they quit their jobs. If Golden Gems was going to be a force, it needed their full attention. Along the way, the products and team grew until the Locust location was born. A bright pink spot in Midtown. And the heavy workload hasn't stopped. Since then, we've been able to open 2 more locations, grow our team beyond our wildest dreams, travel the world to meet other businesses, and give back more and more to the community we call home.Golden Gems isn't just a girly little store selling silly trinkets and t-shirts. We are more than that. Our team works tirelessly to design product, ship orders, plan events, and more – and it all happens in-house. We support other small businesses around us and we continually host local vendors in our stores and at Hidden Gem to spread word about all the cool businesses this city has to offer. And we are always finding ways to give back to St. Louis and causes that matter to us. Every month, we choose an organization to donate a portion of our proceeds to like Planned Parenthood, St. Louis Against Sexual Assault, and Black Girls Do Stem. And as we continue to grow, we want to do even more and keep the door open for conversations. Our mission has always been to inspire people to live unapologetically, take up space, and live life on your own terms. As well as, strengthening our relationships in this community. And that's not going to change.Gems are founded on creating safe, inclusive spaces for any one to enjoy. We believe there is a badass inside everyone. We believe every one has the right to live unapologetically on their own terms and take up the space they deserve. We believe black lives matter. We believe trans rights are human rights. We believe that love is love, no human is illegal, mental health matters and kindness is everything. In a world you can be anything, don't be a dick.
