Sharon is a registered nurse who has worked in the field of intellectual disability for over 40 years. Over the past 21 years she has had a professional interest in reducing and eliminating restrictive practices. She is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Positive Behaviour Support, has published papers and books on topics including restraint reduction, behaviour risk assessment, frameworks for reducing the use of restrictive practices in health, education, social care; and health promotion for people who have disability. she has worked as an expert witness, consultant and independant nurse.
