I’m Siân, your Swimming Coach and Water Psychologist.A lifetime of swimming, competitively, for pleasure and now to help others with their confidence.I have lived on the island for twenty three years and helped hundreds of people with their swimming skills and improved their confidence, technique and enjoyment!I am professionally qualified with a lifetime of experience which is supported by additional training with the Shaw Method and incorporates elements of the Alexander technique into my work. My balance of professional qualifications and experience means that I am best placed to help you with your swimming and water confidence.I have taught literally hundreds of people to change their relationship with the water with my supportive and empathetic, hands-on tuition. Together we have developed their swimming skills and transformed their experience of the water through this unique and enjoyable form of coaching, which improves poise, brings greater freedom of movement, and promotes good body alignment while minimising the risk of strain or injuryWhat is a water psychologist? It’s a title that perfectly sums up my relationship with water and style of coaching. If you’re looking for a coach who understands how water works and how you swim with it, you’re in the right place. My individual style of coaching contrasts with the traditional adult swimming lessons. Through a combination of water psychology coaching and Shaw Method swimming techniques, you’ll learn to swim with confidence. My approach teaches you how to understand and work with water rather than fighting against it.You can read what people say here:“I can't thank Sian and Brainwaves enough. I started having lessons to conquer a fear I had with freestyle and in particular the correct breathing part of the stroke. I also needed to swim correctly to help with my rheumatoid arthritis. The water and swimming have really become my happy place. ”Helen“It was after my very first lesson I said ‘this has changed my whole concept of swimming! Summing it up I’m delighted. Thanks Sian.”Steph“Back in July 22 whilst doing the Chest Divas Triathlon I had a full-on panic attack in the River Dee and struggled to breath, with the help of a kind man in the kayak I completed the swim, this left me with being scared to venture into water.Sian at Brainwaves was recommended as a person who could help me with my breathing and improve my all-round swimming strokes. I have been having lessons with her for a couple of months now, and it has made a huge difference in how I view the water, my breathing and my swimming strokes have improved immensely.I would recommend Sian at Brainwaves any time, if you have any problems or fears with water breathing swimming strokes she’s definitely one I would ring. So, what are you waiting for!”Dee
