Dublin-born soprano Susie Gibbons graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music with a Master of Performance as a Sussex Scholar, under the tutelage of Amanda Roocroft and coach, Andrew Robinson.The 23/24 season will see Susie make her debut at Wexford Festival Opera singing Suor Osmina and Le Suore Cercatrici in Suor Angelica and joining the WFO Chorus for La Ciociara. Susie will perform in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall with OperaEd in two performances of ‘Opera for Kids’ and will perform her first solo Christmas concert in St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street in Dublin.Susie made her debut singing Fiordiligi with Random Opera Company in the 22/23 season and performed with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in the final of Opera Festival Scotland’s Young Artist Singing Competition. Susie also performed a sold-out recital in the Kevin Barry room of the National Concert Hall in Dublin to rave audience reviews. For the 21/22 season Susie joined the English National Opera Chorus for their production of The Handmaid’s Tale in April 2022. Susie was also an Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera, performing in the chorus of Cosí fan Tutte and Rusalka.Susie made her debut with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra as soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah and also performed in Irish Heritage’s ‘Christmas by Candlelight’ concert in St George’s Church, London last December in conjunction with the Irish Embassy, London. Susie was also invited to perform at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, as a young artist for the Raise Our Voices recital curated by international mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught.Susie has performed the roles of Dido (Dido and Aeneas; Smock Alley Theatre) and The Sleeping Queen (The Sleeping Queen by William Balfe; Blackwater Valley Opera Festival; Mananan International Festival) . For scenes, she has performed the roles of Fiordiligi (RCM), Bella (RCM), Aricie (RCM), Héro (TU Dublin) and Poppea (TU Dublin). Susie has also participated in masterclasses with Dame Ann Murray, Celine Byrne and Tara Erraught.Susie is the winner of the Bernadette Greevy Bursary and Mahler Prize, presented by the National Concert Hall, Dublin in 2019. That year, Susie was also a finalist in Northern Ireland Opera’s Festival of Voice, a winner of the Nancy Calthorpe Cup for French Mélodie and a finalist in the Gervase Elwes Cup at the Feis Ceoil.Having originally studied psychology at University College Dublin where she was a UCD Choral Scholar and an Ad Astra Performing Arts Scholar, Susie turned her attention to her singing studies in 2016 and enrolled as a part-time student at the TU Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama where she studied with Colette McGahon-Tosh.
