American soprano Taylor J. White began her career in jazz and Mississippi blues, later transitioning to classical music and becoming principal soprano and production coordinator for OperaCréole. There, she produces concerts and performs works by 19th-century composers of color, especially those from New Orleans. Taylor is committed to championing living composers of African descent, premiering roles such as Rose in Roger Dickerson’s Preacher Man! Preacher Man! and collaborating on To Meditate in His Temple, a song cycle with Dr. Maria Thompson Corley. Her performances in Bruce Adolphe’s Let Freedom Sing and the 2025 premiere preview of Edmond Dédé’s Morgaine reflect her dedication to cultural storytelling through music. She continues to blend her diverse musical roots into a rich and purposeful artistry.
