Welcome to Mumbles Community Council, where we aim to harness the environmental passion of our local residents and transform it into tangible environmental change. At the heart of our mission lies a committed to improving the local environment and green spaces of Mumbles, as well as contributing to the environmental goals of Welsh Government. We manage a total of four enchanting community green spaces, dedicated to nurturing biodiversity and nature connection in Mumbles. These green spaces rely on the help of our dedicated Green Team volunteers to flourish and provide the best possible habitats for local wildlife and engaging, immersive green spaces for visitors. Green Team volunteer days are an opportunity for local residents to actively contribute to enhancing the local environment and to nurture these green spaces. We roll up our sleeves twice a month - every first Thursday and third Saturday - to make a tangible difference to our community. Locations vary, allowing volunteers to join from different corners of Mumbles.Everyone is invited! No matter what your background, if you have a passion for the environment, we want you on board! We ensure all volunteers are equipped with the necessary tools and resources, however, we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather and activity, bringing essentials like sun cream and water, and bringing gardening gloves if you have them.We want to make sure that our volunteer events are as accessible as possible for everyone in Mumbles. However, activities and locations vary. Therefore some days may require covering some challenging terrain, lifting heavy materials, or using specialist equipment. If you feel that you might struggle with the activity described, please get in touch and we will endeavour to make reasonable adjustments. The aim of these volunteer events is to involve the Mumbles community in making a positive lasting impact on the environment and demonstrating that Mumbles is a sustainable and environmentally conscious community. As well as regular volunteer days, Mumbles Community Council runs environmental engagement events throughout the year. These include Mumbles Green Heroes networking events, where eco-enthusiasts, visionaries, and change-makers come together to share ideas, spark conversations, and ignite change. It is an opportunity to promote your environmental project, discuss environmental issues, or just listen and learn. Each event features a captivating guest speaker, an expert in their field, ready to share insights and inspire the room. These gatherings are a movement towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future, one conversation at a time!So whatever your environmental knowledge or experience, we would love for you to join us at one of our Mumbles Community Council Environmental events. Let's create an example of what a truly environmentally conscious community looks like.
