Vintage View Cinemas is a community oriented project geared toward the creation of a permanent independent movie theater space that provides repertory screenings, live entertainment, and event cinema to enrich and educate near and far the importance of our society's film and video history and the longevity of the culture of cinematic exhibition.​THE MISSION:​Vintage View Cinemas is designed to be a unique haven for movie buffs, filmmakers, and individuals captivated by the realm of cinema. Our goal is to spark profound bonds among people by showcasing the works of up-and-coming talents, revered masters, and marginalized artists. In addition, we curate exclusive and affordable film events and provide essential educational programs. Our objective is to cultivate a thriving community united by the enchantment of the silver screen.We are a team of passionate film lovers dedicated to keeping repertory cinema and the culture of outdoor cinemas alive in the state of Maryland and beyond. We strive to achieve this mission by bringing you event based screenings of the best films from around the world both independent and commercial with the goal of restoring or establishing a future permanent theater space for all to enjoy.​Founded by Jonathan Young, the organization's journey began as conversations and podcasts among a small group of friends and physical media collectors who shared a love for the bizarre and unconventional in cinema as well as the classic films that time has forgotten. We would often spend hours discussing and debating our favorite cult classics, and lamenting the fact that many of these films have not been widely seen on the big screen for years if at all.​That's when Jonathan decided to start his own cinematic events, with the goal of creating a new community theater, a place where we could share his love for these hidden gems with others. We as a team have scoured the internet, hunted down obscure DVDs and VHS tapes, and even tracked down rare 16mm prints to screen for our audience.​Our cinematic events have become a haven for cinephiles who crave something different from the mainstream offerings and new releases at the multiplex. We pride ourselves on our carefully curated selection of films, ranging from horror, action, comedy and sci-fi to avant-garde and experimental works to family favorite classics from our childhoods.​But our cinema and its screenings are more than just a place to watch movies. It's a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for the weird and wonderful. We host regular events, including themed movies, double features, marathons, guest speaker screenings, and interactive film experiences.​We also offer equipment rentals in order to continue to spread the love of cinema within our state and beyond to private and public events.​So if you're looking for something off the beaten path, spend an evening with us.
