Hello, I am Jan Pulsford, a lifelong composer, musician, producer, songwriter, keyboardist, virtual artist, and explorer in the world of music & technology. For the last 15 years I have lived in Woodbridge, an inspiring centre for creativity. Many artists and musicians live and work here with the river being the heartbeat of this place.Recently the positive effects of ambient music have been widely documented. Covid affected the mental health of so many and the NHS suggested relaxation techniques including ambient music, to help relieve stress and gain a sense of well-being. To this end there are many generative ambient music apps available, some written by Brian Eno, often referred to as the ‘father’ of ambient music, who, along with his brother Roger, another ambient composer, was born and brought up in Woodbridge. In 2022 we held the first 3-day Community Ambient Festival in Woodbridge, Suffolk celebrating all things ambient with live performances, installations, workshops, talks, art, film, kids’ events, meditation, yoga, mental well-being, river walks, music metaverse, climate change - bringing the area together to enjoy an uplifting and inspiring weekend.Tom Rogerson, who recorded the beautiful album ‘Finding Shore’ with Brian Eno, headlined the weekend with a Sunday afternoon concert at St. Marys with friends Talvin Singh, Clare OConnell, Liam Byrne and Brian Eno, who introduced the amazing afternoon!Ambient music provided the backdrop to all events again in 2023 when we were joined by performers and visitors from all over the UK.Peter Chilvers, the co-designer of the Bloom apps joined us for another sold out weekend in 2024 and here we are ready to launch the FOURTH ambient music festival on the Autumn Equinox Weekend 2025.You can see photos and hear about all the wonderful participants - too many to mention here!
