Tasia Castell, CEO and head instructor has struggled with her weight for nearly 10 years. Growing up, her outer appearance was her top priority. She constantly sought validation from others and based her self worth on how she looked. In 2017, her health deteriorated, and she could no longer rely on her appearance to build confidence. As a result, feelings of depression emerged which took a toll on her mental health and affected the way she spoke to herself. One day, she did a YouTube fitness class and realized that she realized she was speaking to herself kindly for the first time--encouraging herself to keep going and feeling proud of her effort. The endorphin rush left her on a high, making her realize the impact of movement on the mind. Continuing this path, she discovered an online dance class and immediately fell in love. Dancing reconnected her to her inner child. For nearly three years, Tasia has built a loyal group of attendees who find her classes beneficial for both their mental and physical well-being. Many attendees look forward to the classes every week, and for some, it’s their only form of movement. She has witnessed shy and timid participants grow in confidence through consistency. Though she is still working through her own struggles with weight and mental health, she is grateful for the opportunity to lead her classes and puts significant effort into creating a memorable experience for her attendees.Bodies in Motion is a fitness brand that encourages women of all ages and sizes to move their bodies through dance. The brand’s mission is to promote movement for the benefits outside of weight-loss and calorie burning. In fact, weight loss and calorie counting are not discussed in the classes or used in marketing. Instead, attendees are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, let go of overthinking, and simply enjoy the freedom of movement.
