Hello I'm Jeanette TuckerI'm proud to be the Founder Director and Lead Grower for the Sage Green Market Garden. A community interest company (CIC), based inside the walled garden at Powderham Castle. I started Sage Green in 2019. The market garden was originally set up as a project for people 50+ to help with wellbeing and offering education opportunities. We are still a social prescribing project but our client group has expanded to involve people 18+.I have been a life long enthusiastic gardener with all the usual success and failure of growing in my own garden. I've had the privilege of working with people with learning disabilities in a horticulture environment for more than a decade . Its from my positive experience of this work that I wanted to start my own project and opened it to a wider part of the community.Growing vegetables organically in our market garden is an ongoing lifelong learning experience of which I enjoy every second. The market garden has taken hard work and dedication from our band of volunteers to get it to the point where we now have four 25m x10m plots that are/will be productive in 2022. You can follow the news from the market garden on #instagramWillow weaving has been and interest of mine for several years. I began with working with live willow and then progressed to making animal sculptures. I started on the baskets in recent years. I love the rough hewn type baskets that look like they have been made in the field for gathering berries and herbs.
