O'Lisa J Designs, a small design and consulting business provides products and solutions in fashion, home décor soft lines, wedding apparel and accessories founded by M. O'Lisa Johnson in the Greater Puget Sound Area. Prior to earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising with an emphasis in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma, O'Lisa served in the Retail and Wholesale Industries in management, merchandising, marketing, sales, and customer service.After undertaking post-Bachelors’ studies in Business Administration at Seattle University, she enrolled in the Apparel Design & Services Program at Seattle Central College in Seattle, Washington. This training later prepared her to provide Alterations Services to specialty retail shops such as BeBe, Dress Barn and Catherine's Plus Sizes, offer custom sewing services to private clients and design and market a line of scrub wear tops for 13 healthcare, childcare, and personal care facilities.Also inspired by Her Instructor's, later O'Lisa would venture into sewing instruction in the South Seattle College Continuing Education Program and shortly after also began instructing at North Seattle College. In addition to providing instructional services for the two campuses, she also served in a dual capacity as a transitional Consultant assisting other Instructors in preparing course materials. A few of the courses taught include Sewing, Serging, Alterations, and Starting a Sewing Business. O’Lisa has been Instructing for over 13 years with the Community College Continuing Education Programs, Washington District VI. Green River Community College has recently been added in offering sewing classes as well.Additionally, in direct response to the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic and to control the spread of COVID-19, O’Lisa J Designs as part of the City of Seattle Mayor’s Seattle Protects Program has become a provider of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), specifically producing in bulk and individual quantities facial masks for the community and general public. O’Lisa J Designs is honored and humbled to be a part of this worthy cause.O’Lisa J Designs has partnered with King County Library System to provide sewing workshops via the STEM Makerspace Program.
