Student Organization Brave hearts is a student-led organization founded with the vision of creating a truly multicultural society in Japan. Based on the concept of "co-creative multicultural coexistence," we position foreign residents not as subjects of support, but as equal partners in creating a new society together. Our organization was established in response to the growing challenges of multicultural integration in Japan, where the foreign resident population has reached 3.75 million and is projected to exceed 4 million by 2040. Despite institutional progress such as the introduction of the Technical Intern Training Program, we identified critical gaps in mutual understanding, with 73% of Japanese people lacking daily interaction with foreign residents and 90% of foreign residents experiencing microaggressions.Led by CEO Sato, Brave hearts employs a unique three-pronged approach grounded in social psychological theories. Our activities span three interconnected domains: co-creative international exchange events that reduce psychological barriers and foster meaningful connections; social entrepreneurship programs that enhance self-efficacy and problem-solving capabilities among youth; and policy advocacy initiatives that amplify Gen Z perspectives in shaping multicultural policies. What sets us apart is our rigorous academic foundation. We design our programs based on established theories including Allport's Contact Hypothesis, Social Categorization Theory, and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. This evidence-based approach, combined with systematic impact measurement, ensures that our interventions effectively address the root causes of social division. As a student organization, we leverage the creativity and dynamism of young people while maintaining strong partnerships with universities, local governments, NPOs, and businesses. Our network includes collaboration with academic research labs, municipal multicultural affairs departments, international associations, and companies employing foreign workers. Our ultimate goal is to transform Japan into a society where cultural diversity is celebrated as a strength, where people from different backgrounds co-create innovative solutions, and where everyone can achieve self-realization while contributing to collective prosperity. Through our activities, we are not just addressing immediate challenges but laying the groundwork for a sustainable, inclusive future for Japan.
