Central to the BioInnovate Fellowship programme is the needs led innovation approach first proposed by Stanford University. Within the field, the method focuses on using empathy to discover and identify a wide range of problems through clinical immersion and comprehensive primary and secondary research, validating needs within numerous parameters, and identifying the most prevalent and imperative needs where proposed solutions would create the most significant impact.The BioInnovate fellowship programme guides multidisciplinary teams through a full cycle of innovation, from needs identification to designing and prototyping viable solutions, as well as searching for funding. Recruitment each year takes place between January and April with the fellowship program commencing early August and running to the end of May.
