Hailing from the vibrant city of Norfolk, Virginia, Tameka’s early years were marked by a profound desire to help others. Straight out of high school, Tameka made a decision that would set the course for her life’s mission.She enlisted in the United States Army, driven by her innate aspiration to make a positive impact. Little did she know that this choice would not only fulfill her yearning to serve but also pave the way for an extraordinary career. Twelve years into her military journey, an opportunity emerged that would redefine her path. Tameka decided to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She enrolled in nursing school and soon found herself commissioned as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps. This transition marked a pivotal moment in her life, combining her military service with her deep passion for health and wellness.Tameka’s military career spanned 21 years, during which she dedicated herself to the well-being of her fellow soldiers and patients. As a registered nurse, her work was grounded in the principles of Western medicine, and her skillful practice brought comfort and healing to those under her care.In the year leading up to her retirement, Tameka saw an opportunity to further enhance her holistic approach to health. She decided to delve into the world of massage therapy, viewing it as a valuable complement to her established role as a nurse. The fusion of her nursing expertise with the modality of massage therapy created a powerful synergy that offered her patients/clients a more comprehensive approach to healing, addressing not only physical but also emotional and spiritual well-being.Tameka’s journey didn’t stop there. Over the years, she ventured into various businesses, spreading her influence between Ohio and Florida. Her thirst for holistic healing led her to explore modalities like Reiki, a Japanese healing technique that channels energy to promote balance and relaxation. These spiritual practices became an integral part of her holistic approach to wellness. Tameka’s current focus is to complete her Colon Hydrotherapy certification, further expanding her repertoire of holistic wellness practices. Additionally, she is diligently working on her forthcoming book, not yet titled. This book promises to be a treasure trove of life’s inspirations, filled with nuggets of wisdom to navigate life’s challenges.Today, Tameka continues her mission of healing and education, expanding her role to that of a spiritualist and life coach. In her latest endeavor, Tameka embarked on a new chapter with her husband, Kendel Woods, a talented freelance visual artist and product designer. Returning from Iraq, Tameka bore not only the memories of her time there but also the burden of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).Her journey of healing and recovery became a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Learning to manage PTSD, she emerged as a staunch advocate for counseling and natural healing modalities, recognizing their vital role in helping others cope with the scars of war and trauma. Now, as she prepares to embark on a new adventure alongside her husband, Kendel, and their upcoming move to Jamaica, Tameka anticipates a fresh set of challenges.
