Rosamund Community Garden is a place for people of all ages, abilities, and walks of life to make friends, unwind, learn new skills, and be a part of something special.Tending the garden is a communal effort between volunteers, community groups, children, and young people taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. We welcome visitors to our garden, whether to help in the garden in exchange for garden produce, use the garden for education, or simply to look around and enjoy the view. We're always in need of new helping hands, no matter your skillset and gardening ability. We are located near Pewley Down, off Longdown Road, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 8PP. You can park in Longdown Road and then walk along the footpath at the first left-hand bend (the garden is set back on the right). Or a pleasant way to reach the site is to walk across the top of Pewley Down, then along the ridge through the shaded tunnel of Burgess Way, which brings you to the houses on your right and our entrance is the last farm gate on your left before emerging onto Longdown Road. The garden is named after Rosamund Arvidsson, who lived with her 2 children in a house at the top of Longdown Road. To protect that bit of chalk downland from development she purchased 19 acres, which had a history of growing wheat and more recently being cut for hay. Her son and daughter are working with Guildford Environmental Forum and Surrey Wildlife Trust, to secure it in the best interests of wildlife and to help nurture, what everybody agrees, is a peaceful and beautiful place.
