My name is Anna Khodorkovskaya, and I am an artist. I was born in Moscow, where I studied at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts. In 2012, I moved to Vienna to continue my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of abstract painting. However, my diploma work in 2018 was not painting, but a series of mosaic pieces incorporating text, which later developed into a larger series titled I See. At that point, I learned the art of mosaic entirely through self-directed research and developed my own method. During this process, I connected with others around the world working in the same field and further developed my practice and knowledge in a more professional way.Since I started to work with mosaic, I have dreamed of creating mosaic art in public spaces (true Kunst am Bau)—which I was fortunate to realize later three times in Vienna, and I hope to create more in the future! Today, I have three permanent public artworks in the 10th, 12th, and 23rd districts.Since 2021, I have been actively working with people, gaining valuable experience through workshops and participatory projects—with children, adults, and fellow artists. These workshops have varied in scale, from one-day sessions to six-month group projects, with groups ranging from one person to 200 participants.Working with people is essential to me. I gladly share my knowledge and ideas, but I also learn so much in return, as every person brings something unique. This exchange is a beautiful challenge and source of inspiration.
