Robert J. Carmack, recognized by PBS.Org Artbound series on legacy L.A.theater companies(April 2024) ,co-founding the Paul Robeson Players-an active producer of Jazz themed shows, concerts and original plays, his most recent plays ;Requiem for Soul Men,musical revue (2022~)Interview with the High Priestess:Nina (2018), a scathing presentation about soul and jazz singer, Nina Simone. Now his latest edition, a musical crime drama set in black Los Angeles mid-1950s. He has produced or starred and directed a plethora of stage shows in Oakland, Los Angeles California,and, Atlanta,GA. Most of his latests productions intergrates intense jazz compositions and unique spoken word performance and dramatic interpretations.Coming soon Fall 2025, his latest 1956 musical crime drama Freddie Freeloader: Life and Times. Mr. Carmack has produced shows with some of Jazz's most stellar musicians such as,Taj Mahal, Benny Golson, Azar Lawrence, Juini Booth, McCoy Tyner, Doug Carn, Sonny Fortune, Freddie Hubbard, Freddy Cole, Vanessa Rubin and Hilton Ruiz to name a few. His poetry is heavily influenced by wordsmith stalwarts like, the Last Poets, Watts Prophets, Amiri Baraka, Sun Ra and Jayne Cortez.Media Consultant, Digital Marketing and Promotions/Branding Strategist -MFA - Theater Arts-Directing/Production ,Columbia University New York, B.A. degree -Theater Arts/Communications Cal State Univ.
