Let’s face it—most dating apps suck.At least, that’s been my experience. I’ve spent way too much energy trying to figure out if the guy I’m texting is actually who he says he is. Is he even real? Even phone calls don’t confirm much these days.My breaking point came after the fourth last-minute “Oh, I have to cancel” text. (I threw out my back… my mother broke her foot… blah blah blah.) I get that things happen, but either I was choosing the wrong guys, or this is just what dating looks like now. Either way, it was not fun.And I knew I wasn’t alone. There are more people like me out there—fun, interesting, alive—and we’re being totally ignored.The lack of places for people 50+ to meet? Shocking. Like, we’re not dead yet! So I thought: WTH, I’m going to create something myself.It had to be something I would actually want to go to—something that felt a little like a cocktail party, with a relaxed vibe, room to mingle, and for good measure, a dash of speed dating. Because let’s be honest—it’s impossible to talk to everyone at a big event, and this way, everyone gets a chance.And it couldn’t just be any place—I wanted a space with a little vibe. Not too loud, not too sterile, and definitely not a sports bar.
