Established in 1974 in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland, Highland Stoneware produces a distinctive range of decorative and durable pottery. Each piece is handmade and individually free-hand painted, so no two pieces are the same. From making our own clay to the finished product, each piece is handmade and decorated by a small team of craftspeople in Lochinver and Ullapool.We use our own recipes for our clay, glazes and decorating colours, all of which are mixed in Lochinver. The addition of machinery to crush and seive local rocks, and an association with the North West Highlands Geopark, have led to the exciting development of our geological glazes. Our creative team is constantly being inspired by the interesting glaze effect produced.We fire our pieces in a carefully controlled kiln atmosphere, which produces a unique refraction of light through layers of colour, best seen when viewing in good light.Our processes ensure that our pottery is exceptionally strong and resistant to chipping, ovenproof and dishwasher safe.
