Women in Business (WIB) is a non profit group providing networking opportunities to business professionals in the Medicine Hat region. Women in Business currently hosts 3 events per year, these include: Empowerment Day, Wine and Cheese, and the Inspire LuncheonAttendees at WIB events include women who own their own small business, women who work for small business, and women who support small business. Whether you are a city administrator, educator, accountant, non-profit coordinator or stay at home mom; Women in Business invites you to participate. It’s about bringing all these different types of women together and connecting them, building relationships and above all just having a good time!WIB also takes pride in the ability to give back to the community and one such way this is done is through the Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp. It is a one week camp at Eagles Nest Ranch held the last week of August where young entrepreneurs learn about business, leadership and life skills. WIB raises money to sponsor a young lady from the Southeast Alberta Region to attend this camp. The committee is so happy to be able to support this program with the goal of inspiring our young entrepreneurs of tomorrow!Membership:There are no fees to join Women in Business, nor is there any “membership.” There is a committee of local women who organize the three yearly events and invite all women in the community to participate. There is an email contact list, so if you would like to make sure you are a part of it contact any one of the committee members and they can ensure you are in the loop!History:The local WIB group was started in 2001 when five forward thinking female professionals saw a gap in the services specific to the needs of women in terms of business training, workshops and speakers. These women sought out opportunities for female business owners to network. The original group of ladies has evolved and changed over time but the goals have remained the same – connecting diverse groups of women, building relationships and above all having fun!Edit
