OVERVIEW & PURPOSE- IMPOP is a 501 c3 Non Profit organization that was founded in 2016 by Jamal Williams and Navoto Babitt, IMPOP provides assistance to at-risk youth and communities in need and empowers the self-sufficiency and well-being to become sustainable, independent and proud. We have been diligently working to create Financial Literacy Support and (C2C) Concept to Completion, that includes, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math), Mental Health and Wellness and wrap around services for youth in our communities. The national standards identify knowledge, skills, and decision-making abilities that all young people, without regard to race, gender and family income, should acquire during their K-12 education as a framework for their lives as smart consumers and producers.EDUCATION STANDARDS- 1) Earning income 2) Spending 3) Saving 4) Investing 5) Managing credit 6) Managing riskOBJECTIVES● Provide workshops and events that support youth education and technology● To serve as a valuable source of communication to parents and community members about the importance of the personal financial literacy● To increase the knowledge of financial literacy and it's cultural implications● To increase the wrap around dynamics within the communityOUTREACH- Our goal is to reach at least 20 students per workshop and at least 100 students per year in Grades 1- 12. Our workshops will be taught by Teachers, Entrepreneurs, Business Support Specialists, Mentors, Bankers, and Business Owners. This series of workshops will be concluded with an end of the year event, AfroLit in February 2023. We are eager to hold these workshops on a yearly basiscustoized workshops and training, insightful messages about empowerment, involvement, and community building. Our attendees are primarily African American families, with children and young adults, between the ages of 8 and 19. Parents & Adults who have attended in the past ranged from 24 to 70 years of age. Students come from several elementary, middle, and high schools primarily from the Bay Area. Approximately 1⁄3 of the students are from Berkeley Middle schools. We also have community members from Latin, Hispanic and Asian descent (POC) attend the ev 1rease knowledge and for the youth to retain the knowledge as they continue to grow. AfroLit provides customized workshops and training, insightful messages about empowerment, involvement, and community building. Our attendees are primarily African American families, with children and young adults, between the ages of 8 and 19. Parents & Adults who have attended in the past ranged from 24 to 70 years of age.
