Burnley Bridleways Association was started in the 1970s by local riders to protect, research, ride & repair local pack horse routes, bridleways & byways in and around the Burnley area. The original Chairman was the Late Mary, Lady Towneley who researched and established the Pennine Bridleway National Trail which remains the only multi user trail in Britain.The group upholds the original tenets on which it was founded at a time when establishing and protecting safe, off road riding is often under threat.Ours is a lasting legacy and it is only through the voluntary work of the BBA that Burnley is able to offer a variety of contiguous routes that form a comprehensive network between the urban and rural landscape of the South Pennines and beyond.Join our events and help us continue to build, maintain and keep these routes open for all on foot, hoof and bicycle.
