Kīra graduated with a BA in English from Brigham Young University–Idaho. While a student there, she worked on the committee of the annual Jane Austen Yule Ball five times (2010–2014), serving as the committee chair her senior year. Also in her senior year, she put on a Jane Austen Summer Formal. She taught English country dancing on campus leading up to these events, at these events, and as one of the weekly social dances offered by Student Activities. Kīra grew up watching Emma Thompson'sSense and Sensibilityand took a Jane Austen class at BYU–Idaho. She has read five of the six major novels written by Miss Jane. (Sorry, Mansfield Park.) Kīra has attended five public balls between Oregon and Utah and hosted one private dance since moving to the latter state. She held her wedding reception, which included historical dancing, in the same ballroom that Jane Austen's 250th Birthday Ball will be in. She is a full-time homemaker and lives in Utah Valley with her family.
