About Canyon Lake Community TheatreCanyon Lake Community Theatre strives to provide community residents access to the performing arts. It is also the purpose of the organization to provide Canyon Lake residents the opportunity to perform and/or participate in appropriate activities and programs. The club has adopted the following purpose statement:To provide a platform and showcase for local talent with guidance and opportunity for those aspiring to enter and grow in the performing arts in a theatrical environment otherwise unavailable to the local community.To provide entertainment for the community with an emphasis on theatrical variety, utilizing community members in all age groups.To help inspire and develop an appreciation for the arts in many forms otherwise unavailable to the local community.To provide introductory instruction in acting, singing, stage direction and dynamics, stage design including the building of props, designing and painting scenery art, mechanical aspects of prop changes and general understanding of stage production.To help young people develop confidence and self-esteem, discipline, responsibility and working cooperation with diverse age groups, andTo generally cultivate and nurture the creative spirit in children, young adults and the young at heart.The organizations first performance was December 1992 at Indian Beach. It was raining and residents stood with umbrellas to watch “The Greatest Pageant Ever” directed by Pat Train. Inspired by the overwhelming community support for the performing arts, Pat went on to direct “The Wizard of Oz,” the first production of the newly formed Canyon Lake Community Theatre. Since our inception, the club has annually presented 1 to 2 major productions as well as smaller scale Cabaret, Dinner Theatre, Murder Mystery, Drama, Dance, and Fundraising events.
