Hi, my name is Michelle & I am a home-based, small-batch baker located in Carpentersville, IL. As owner of My Cookie Cottage, I am here to help make the special events, milestones and memories in your life a bit sweeter!How in the world did my cookie journey begin? Years ago, as a mom of two young kids, my daughter and I would often bake together so I could contribute unique and affordable snacks to their sporting, school and theater events. It became a way for me to use my creativity while bonding with my daughter. Over the years, she finally grew up and moved away for college. With no more kid activities, my love for baking began to shift and I started creating sweet treats for family and friends. Quickly, my hobby grew when people started asking me to make cookies for their other personal events.Thanks to my husband Alfredo, who pushed me to realize that my talent and love for baking and decorating could grow into a small business. I started seeing potential in starting a side hustle and creating cookie dreams for other families. With support from my daughter, husband and family, I decided to get my food handler license, registered my company as an official Cottage business and applied for my LLC…and My Cookie Cottage finally became an official business! Right now I am known as “Teacher by day” (I teach Jr. High Spanish) and “Cookier by night”, but I plan to put this into full swing in retirement!
