Optimist Comics LLC

Optimist Comics is an arts-education company that combines the art of visual storytelling with project-based learning to unlock literacy outcomes for Chicago-area youth. Through our Comics in the Classroom program, we teach students how to write, draw, and publish comic book adaptations of the books they're reading in class. With OC Academy workshop series, we ensure quality arts education is available to young people across the city by partnering with local businesses to host classes right in their community.We believe that literacy is a human right and that art is inherently valuable. We also believe that storytelling shapes cultures and defines societies. Our goal is to ensure that our young people have access to platforms to tell their own stories and the foundational skills to master their own destinies.
