San Francisco Dyke March

SF Dyke March serves lesbian, dyke, queer women identified communities in San Francisco. We understand dyke is a sexual orientation and a political identity. SF Dyke March stands for community, for solidarity, for radical fight. Dyke stands for trans, black, brown, queer, bisexual, disabled, chronically ill, fat, femme, butch, indigenous, gender expansive love. The purpose of SF Dyke March is to claim space for dykes, for those of us who are questioning and challenging gender constructions and the social definitions of women. SF Dyke March represents multiple intersections of marginalization. Our community needs are changing, families are growing, our friends are aging, our spaces are shifting and all against the backdrop of a national effort to erase our LGBTQ+ existence. The mission of the San Francisco Dyke March is to bring together dyke communities to build unity, raise consciousness and be visible. SF Dyke March is essential to the cultural fabric of San Francisco and to the larger movements for justice for all LGBTQ communities. Born out of the national Dyke March in DC in 1993, the first San Francisco Dyke March was in June 1993 and is held annually on the Saturday of Pride weekend.
