Soft But Sturdy Beadwork

Soft But Sturdy Beadwork is the creative outlet of Kaytlyn Nadjiwon (née Giaccone), a queer Ojibwe/Italian beadwork artist, sometimes writer, and proud auntie. Born and raised on Unceded Unsurrendered Algonquin Territory (Ottawa), Kaytlyn’s work is deeply rooted in culture, connection, and her personal healing journey through profound grief and struggles with mental health. Her maternal grandfather, a residential school survivor from Neyaashiinigmiing in what is now called Bruce County, Ontario, inspires much of her dedication to reclaiming and celebrating Indigenous artistry. In 2018, during one of the most challenging periods of her life, Kaytlyn began beading as a way to cope and heal. Introduced to flat-stitch beadwork by a close friend, she fell in love with its meditative nature and transformative energy. Over the following six years, she refined her craft, finding moments of clarity, peace, and resilience through the art form.Soft But Sturdy Beadwork offers handmade jewelry and art alongside workshops that create space for connection, creativity, and healing. Whether you’re seeking a new skill, a meaningful connection to Indigenous culture, or simply a calm moment to create, Kaytlyn’s work offers all of that and more. For more information on 1:1, private, or group workshops, email Kaytlyn at kaytlyn@softbutsturdy.ca.
