The School of Humanities, Creative Industries and Social Sciences offers a diverse range of teaching and research that contributes to our understanding of global peoples, societies, histories and cultures, and helps us to imagine the future.We take pride in our quality teaching and research to foster positive outcomes for our students and staff. We are based at Callaghan, at the Central Coast Ourimbah Campus, and in the City. Our precinct in the Newcastle CBD spans NUspace, the new Q Building, the Conservatorium of Music, University House, and Northumberland House (Watt Space Gallery). We provide state-of-the-art facilities for learning and creativity.The School brings together a range of discipline areas from the humanities and social sciences to the creative fields. Our creative staff include animators, communicators, musicians, performers, artists, and designers. We deliver innovative experiences across both established and emerging fields such as creative writing, design, filmmaking, animation, music, journalism, performance, games design, and artmaking. Our School also offers music production suites, performing arts and visual communication spaces, and cutting-edge design and creative arts facilities.Our vision is for the University of Newcastle to establish a global reputation for its excellence in our respective fields and to be the destination of choice for the humanities, creative disciplines and social sciences.
