The mission of the Chapter is to build a reputation upon respect, integrity, and professionalism while promoting awareness in the fields of mining, metallurgy and exploration through education and direct exposure to mining practices, equipment, sustainability and safety. This upcoming academic year (2024-2025), the student chapter has many goals it plans to accomplish. With the help of chapter members, faculty and industry professionals these goals will be more than attainable.01. Raise Funds for the 2025 SME Annual Expo & Conference (MINEXCHANGE) in Denver, CO, the 47th Intercollegiate International Mining Games (IMG) 2025 in England, & and the 2025 NSSGA Annual Convention in St. Louis, MO.Due to ever increasing student involvement in the chapter, we hope to send a record number of students to this years conference, at little to no cost to each student. This is an amazing opportunity and sending students to this event is one of our proudest accomplishments every year.02. Increase Targeted OutreachThe SME Student Chapter is actively expanding recruitment to look for aspiring young engineers, geologists, hydrologists and metallurgists to join the Chapter and have a positive impact in their future careers.03. Promote Professional DevelopmentThe Chapter provides professional assistance for members such as resume reviews, mock interviews, and networking. We help promote internship and employment opportunities and facilitate companies' recruitment efforts.PresidentAlexis Rylaarsdamarylaarsdam@arizona.eduExecutive Vice PresidentSarah Marquezsbmarquez@arizona.eduVP of Fundraising (Golf Tournament Organizer)Robyn Bufanorobynbufano@arizona.edu
