Monika Rosen is a painter based in Kingston, ON, with an MFA from the New York Academy of Art and a BFA Honours from Queen’s University where she studied Painting and Printmaking, with a minor in Art History. Painting is her vocation and absolute passion, and she loves to share her knowledge with others through a variety of media: from oil painting, drawing, and monotypes.Rosen has taught art privately for several years as well as through workshops with Cline House Studio in Cornwall, Visual Arts Mississauga, Fogo Island Arts, Kingston School of Art, and at the Giddy Goat Cafe in Amherstview. She has a gentle and joyful approach, a listening ear, and loves to challenge her students to create beyond any limiting beliefs. At the root of her classes and workshops there is a love for the process, for experimentation and expression, coupled with insightful, practical instruction on colour, composition, and value.Rosen has exhibited in groups shows in Canada, the US and Europe, and solo shows in Ontario. Her painting “Center of Gravity” recently won Best-In-Show at the 2024 Kingston Square Foot Show, and her work is in private and corporate collections including The Daniels Corporation in Toronto and 21C Museum Hotels. Out of the studio, Rosen enjoys dance and sailing Lake Ontario - a love for water, an element that permeates all her work!
