Hey, I’m Dustin Bakker.I created The Strength of Men as a way to help others find their strength.As I have been on the journey to find my own.My story has been influenced living in a world of drugs and alcohol.Feeling trapped by choices I had made, I began to notice my happiness slipping away. My relationships started to fall apart. My life felt as though it was unravelling and I needed to make a change. That change came in the form of a commitment to myself. Finding the Strength to look myself in the mirror and ask”Am I doing what’s possible to be the man I want to show up in the world as?” Beginning to take the steps needed, creating the ability to make that happen. Setting boundaries, listening to my heart, letting go of who I thought I needed to be. Becoming who I want to be. Connecting to my senses paying attention to what my body says.Growing up in Calgary Alberta becoming a scaffolder right out of high school, riding BMX, and learning to party became the focus in my early 20’s. Easily influenced always searching for someone or something to look up to I often felt alone. Riding my bike allowed a sense of passion to be expressed. Learning to set goals and work towards them. This gave me purpose, until I bought a house. Knowing injuries would prevent me from being able to make mortgage payments. This is when my life began to shift experimenting with new ways to cope. I lost the connection to myself and my attitude towards myself and others became very dark. Through different traumas and life experiences it wasn’t until 2017 I started making the changes to find happiness again. Finding my strength in the elements of nature and learning to utilize tools that are available to everyone of us. I’m here to help you along your journey
