On Monday 18th march 2024 we were hit with the devastating news that Joe had taken his own life at the age of 23 after a long battle with his mental health.Joe was loved by all that knew him. A funny, bubbly, incredible young man with nothing but love to give.In Joe's memory we have set up a fundraising organisation to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. It comes as no shock to anyone that mental health is still very much a taboo subject, especially in men... This is something that needs to change.Our organisation has many goals that we would like to achieve in Joe's memory within the next few years.Joe participated in multiple charity boxing matches and was a firm believer that boxing as well as physical exercise was a great distraction when struggling with mental health. In his honour we would like to host boxing classes for people of all ages and genders. A place people can come for a momentary escape, have a healthy outlet and find enjoyment being a part of a community.Along side the boxing we feel strongly about giving people the right support and finding the help that is so desperately needed. We aim to help not only the ones suffering but also families and loved ones by giving the correct tools and offering advice on the right paths to take to find further support.Information provided by Samaritans and MIND state that statistics of suicide currently show that the suicide rate in the UK is the highest it has ever been, recording that someone will attempt suicide every 90 seconds.NHS mental health records state 1 in 4 people will struggle with their mental health within their life time and 1 in 15 people will attempt suicide at least once,Men are three times more likely to go through with the act of suicide than women.we hope to increase awareness and be another avenue of support making it easier for people to get the help that they need and show them that suicide is not the way out.We know we can make a difference in this world in Joe's name along with the help of others we can change the stigma around mental health and suicide.We hope you can show your support and join us on this journey.Thank you ❤️
