Our Story :Shay’s Warriors Life After Cancer is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was formed in the Coachella Valley to initially help women who have gone through breast and other reproductive cancers. Since then, Shay’s Warriors has expanded our mission to help all cancer survivors.Like any other nonprofit, there’s a story. Ours began in 2016, when Shay was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. She fought for her life until the day she was told that her cancer was gone. Toodle-oo, cancer! Those who are able to experience hearing those words know that cancer never truly leaves you. Physically, yes. Emotionally, never. And your body acts differently now, too.There’s often guilt, fear, loneliness and an overwhelming sense of “What did I just go through?” It’s normal to have confusion with a clean bill of health. This probably won’t come as a shock: Cancer survivors struggle to ask for help. Shay gets that. After her own (very quiet, of course) struggling search for local resources, she had a passion to do more. So with that, Shay’s Warriors was brought to life with the hope of providing a healthy, inspiring and safe space for cancer survivors to connect and thrive.Our Mission :Living life after cancer is tough. We will inspire, inform, empower and help heal cancer survivors and their families through health, fitness and the mind-body connection.What we do :Shay’s Warriors organizes ongoing educational programs, workshops and special events so our warriors, survivors and thrivers can connect with our inspiring community.
