Shatayia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California with more than 15 years of experience in the field. She has served clients who are incarcerated, homeless, in foster care, severely mentally ill, young, older and many without any social support. She has also supervised numerous social work students and future mental health providers. Moreover, in her role as therapist, she has counseled individuals, couples, and families.Shatayia’s passion for counseling others can be traced back to her high school days when she was a peer counselor on campus. But her desire to help others succeed initially began when she was a 4th grader who helped kindergarten students during her recess time. Now, Shatayia specializes in being able to pinpoint root issues and find creative ways to address these challenges. She brings empathy partnered with a wealth of proven strategies to help clients realize their own inner strengths that lead them to their own solutions. Shatayia empowers her clients to do the hard work of healing utilizing the tools she teaches during sessions. Her tender caring nature and calm demeanor enables the client to feel nurtured yet challenged in the safe space she provides.A proud Veteran of the United States Air Force, Shatayia traveled across the United States and to Okinawa, Japan during her time in the military. When she’s not providing therapy, she can be found traveling, doing fun activities with her children and friends or singing and dancing to her favorite songs. In 2022, Shatayia published her first solo book, Just As I Am, a workbook for teenage girls and young women to help them solidify their identity with improved self-esteem.It is her belief that all people can thrive when they do the hard work of healing. This healing will enable the client to be the person they always wanted to be in spite of their challenges.
