The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience. We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts. Our ticket proceeds pay for the band/performers and sound equipment. Our food & drink revenue pays the rent and utilities. We volunteer our time to make this program run. We serve beer, wine and a great collection of inventive non-alcoholic drinks. Our chefs are world-class.The Sound Room was selected by DownBeat Magazine as 1 of the best places to hear jazz in the World 4 years in a row!The Sound Room was also featured in the New York Times 36 hours in Oakland and in the Wall Street Journal One of a Kind Experiences in Oakland.
