Kerith Family Recovery is a relationship-based program that offers support to families foundering in the cycle of incarceration and substance use, providing individuals and families the knowledge, tools, and support to interrupt the cycle of incarceration and substance addiction.Kerith Family Recovery care includes:Prevention: The key to prevention is providing care, support, education, and alternative life choices to the most vulnerable children.Camp Kerith of Southern Indiana serves children who have experienced the incarceration of a parent or guardian and/or substance use in their home. Camp Kerith implements holistic programming for children, ages 5-18, from the southern counties of Indiana’s District 9: Floyd, Clark, Harrison, Washington, Jackson, and Lawrence Counties, continuing support to District 6: Scott and Jefferson Counties. Camp Kerith of Southern Indiana’s program creates Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) through an environment of imaginative play, sensory-friendly activity structure, life skill training, prevention education, grief and loss support, and leadership development.Kerith Kids is an after-school mentoring and prevention program, re-enforcing the experience of Camp Kerith, by providing continued mentoring, and peer support on weekly to bi-weekly basis. Kerith Kids uses attentive listening, imaginative play, life skills training, and prevention education. Together, Kerith Kids and Camp Kerith create a comprehensive, year-round program, intervening in these children's lives to reduce the statistical probability of generational substance addiction and incarceration.Restoration: Providing Recovery Support for adults in tandem with youth programming shores up prevention efforts and strengthens the community. Serving adults increases the probability of success for our youth.Recovery Support: My Recovery offers both online and in-person meetings for individuals in recovery and adults affected by the destructive behaviors of others. Based on our organization’s six core principles, each person is encouraged to lead their recovery using the attentive listening coaching model. Kerith programs offer an alternative to the traditional twelve-step model, encouraging personal accountability, positive choices, and controlling variables versus accepting the powerlessness often connected to substance use.Re-entry Support: Kerith offers inclusive, faith-based re-entry support through our Community Chaplaincy Team and inclusive character-based programming led by our Peer-to-Peer Recovery Coaches. A continuum of care starts with group mentoring provided in local correctional facilities and offering continued mentoring support post-release.Family Support: Friendship and mentoring support for the families of participants in Camp Kerith, Kerith Kids, My Recovery, and re-entry programming. Often overlooked, these family members may be overwhelmed by the responsibilities of raising children and/or the chaos of a loved one’s substance use and life choices. Including these family members in the circle of support ensures a more supportive environment for their children and loved ones in recovery.
