The Motherhood Group (TMG), founded by Sandra Igwe in 2016, is a trailblazing organisation dedicated to empowering Black mothers and birthing people. As pioneers of the UK's Black Maternal Health Conference and organisers of Black Maternal Mental Health Week UK, TMG has become a cornerstone in addressing racial disparities in maternal health outcomes.TMG offers a range of culturally relevant programmes, including antenatal and postnatal support groups, mental health workshops, and educational seminars. These initiatives are designed to provide tailored support that resonates with the unique experiences of Black mothers.Through advocacy, research, and partnerships with healthcare providers, TMG works tirelessly to improve care quality and influence policy. Their innovative approaches, including digital initiatives and community outreach, have gained widespread recognition.With a growing network of professionals and volunteers, TMG continues to expand its reach, fostering a supportive community where Black mothers can share experiences, access resources, and find strength in collective empowerment.
